When considering metadata tags, it’s important to take the less-is-more approach. Think of your code as directions to a destination, for a browser rather than a human. If you have clean, step-by-step directions, you’re likely to get someone to their destination with little or no difficulty. If your code is loaded with metadata tags that only serve as a distraction, the search engine crawling your site is likely to experience many detours – and possibly even end up in the wrong location!

Focus on the good metadata tags and leave out tags that don't contribute to high search returns.
